Hitachi hosts the Group's largest scale event in-person for the first time in 4 years: "Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2023 JAPAN"

Tokyo, Japan, August 22, 2023--- Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT / TSE:6501, "Hitachi") announced today that it will host "Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2023 JAPAN", the Group's largest scale event, at Tokyo Big Sight for two days from Wednesday, September 20 to Thursday, September 21(JST), as a forum to create opportunities for collaboration with customers and partners. The program will feature more than 60 sessions, including a keynote session by President and CEO Keiji Kojima titled "Hitachi's Vision for the Future of Innovation" as well as business sessions where customers, partners, and experts discuss social issues and the outlook for solutions, and exhibitions introducing Hitachi's latest technologies and solutions for Social Innovation Business.
This year's event, marking its 25th year, will be held as an in-person event for the first time in 4 years. At the venue, participants will be able to see hands-on exhibition including metaverse technology for railway maintenance yards and generative AI solutions for supporting system development. Participation in the event is free of charge, and prior registration began today on the official website.
Sessions and exhibits cover 6 themes that represent the focus of Hitachi's Social Innovation Business: Circular Economy; Decarbonization/Carbon Neutrality; Industrial and Urban Digital Transformation (DX); QoL/Well-being; Sustainability Management; and Innovation Creation. These sessions will introduce Hitachi's activities that is helping the society to achieve a sustainable society.

As one example of a potential solution, Hitachi has built a railway maintenance workplace in a metaverse space. Here, participants can experience how customers' maintenance workplaces can be transformed through the combination of generative AI and metaverse.

      In this exhibition area, Head of Generative AI Center Jun Yoshida will conduct mini-seminars to explain the potential of Generative AI and the importance of governance, transparency, and accountability. The exhibit will also include specific offerings such as demonstrations of system development transformation through generative AI for "Productivity Revolution" and applications that facilitate interactive access to expert knowledge, contributing to "Workstyles Innovation."
